Join historians Christopher J. Leahy and Sharon Williams Leahy for an illustrated presentation exploring the remarkable life of Julia Gardiner Tyler, the Long Island-born First Lady who captivated nineteenth-century America. Drawing extensively from materials preserved in the Long Island Collection of the East Hampton Library, the program offers fresh insight into Julia’s journey from East Hampton society to the White House.

Based on newly uncovered research featured in the forthcoming biography Presidentess: The Life of First Lady Julia Gardiner Tyler (University Press of Kansas, 2026).
